Two musicians with different electronic instruments who don't insist
on their differences but also don't deny them.
blauwurf explore the timbres of everyday and synthetically generated
sounds ranging from the lower to the upper verge of the hearing range,
thereby often challenging the listener's perception.

Their experimental playing comprises amalgamated and divergent sound structures
that are an important part of their improvisational work.

This podcast provides audio material of their experimental noise and sound works.

Not updated on a regular basis but as soon as new material is available and worth to be published.

Welcome to 2008!

This piece (the first one released in the new year) takes its time to let the sounds evolve and decay,
sounds of quite extreme frequency ranges which can lead to an ear-splitting listening experience.

We tried something different here:
Sequences (of course without a sequencer!) created by the analogue gear, sampled live into "Die Flotte Lotte".
Processed there and playing with it (or "giving it back") while accompanied by the original analogue sound.
Then changing the analogue settings, creating a new sequence and/or sound and again sampling it. And so on ...

Soundwise quite different!

It's been quite some time since the last release.
We got a couple of pieces in the drawer now which will be released shortly.
This one is the first of two recordings from November 6th 2006 and utilises lots of FM and noise sounds ... and silence.
I particularly love Eric's selection of sounds and how they were played.

Improvisation 060322, Part 2

by Eric Schörghofer & Michael Zacherl

This is part 2 of our experimental improvisation, done on March 22nd 2006: ;-)
(see above/below)

The character of the middle part allows us to split this in two halves each roughly about 20 minutes of length.
A bit of a concession of handling such large amounts of digital data.

This has been recorded and mixed down (no further signal processing) in Ableton Live 5, not even the levels have been changed.
So what you hear has been played absolutely live, no overdubs or corrections have been applied.

Eric plays some very nice samples (among others clarinet, saxophone, breathing and mouth noises) on his granular synthesis instrument.
Michael started from the same patch as with the "Modulated Modulator Demo" (due to lack of knowing something better to go from ;-).
Again, we were a bit surprised of the direction we went, sound- and rhythmwise.
Not quite the paths we are used to go.

Listen yourself, enjoy and have fun.

Improvisation 060322, Part 1

Well, this is something we would dare to call "a real thing".
Proudly presenting part 1 of our most recent improvisation, done on March 22nd 2006: ;-)

Frankly, we didn't know where this would take us and we think this is the longest piece we ever did in one go.

The character of the middle part allows us to split this in two halves each about 20 minutes of length.

We were a bit surprised of the direction we went, sound- and rhythmwise.
Not quite the paths we are used to go.

Listen yourself, enjoy and have fun.

Track number three of our first experimental CD-R "die blaue kiste" performed on Nov 26th 2005.
All those timbres and "Klangfarben"! Eric used a large range of samples in this one.

Again improvised and recorded live in one piece, no edits, no overdubs added.

This is the second track of our first experimental CD-R "die blaue kiste" performed on Nov 17th 2005.
Heavily filtered analogue low noise and occasional FM bursts and percussive patterns eventually merge with ‘singing’ digital pad sounds.
Retro synth aficionados will enjoy it!

Improvised and recorded live in one piece, no edits, no overdubs added.

This is the first piece of our first experimental CD-R "die blaue kiste" from Aug 11th 2005.
A few rather simple sounds, dispersed in time with plenty of variations.

Fans of ancient vinyl might be delighted!

Improvised and recorded live in one piece, no edits, no overdubs added.
